The Rise and Fall of America

It's all pretty simple, really.

Around the turn of the 20th century, Britain was the world's greatest power, with vast imperial resources, sound money, and great self-confidence. Germany and France were not far behind. Then, in 1914, Europe went to war.

Meanwhile, the United States sat protected by two oceans, and had a conservative outlook and was disposed to look on business favorably. The American people were known for their independence and hardworking habits. Except for the last bit, it mostly sat out World War I.

Later we had the Great Depression, which affected the entire world.

Then, Europe went to war again. This time, the U.S. did not sit it out, but was nevertheless shielded from the destruction and impoverishment that the formerly leading powers endured, not to mention that the number of Americans killed was orders of magnitude lower for America than for many of the other belligerents.

We were the last man standing.

Sometime after World war II, the US dollar became the world's reserve currency. Due to worldwide destruction as well as the communist takeover of many countries, which necessarily makes countries poorer, The U.S. was the industrial powerhouse of the world.

That's when we started to become complacent. We thought we were special, and that our power and wealth would continue forever. We thought that the sexual revolution and mass immigration couldn't even put a dent in our society because, well, because we were America.

Yet we became even wealthier. Because of the dollar's status as reserve currency for the world, we were able to finance our wealth by issuing lots of debt. Our wealth was an illusion; in reality we were borrowing money to pay for our goodies. Meanwhile, the rest of the world had recovered, and other formerly poor countries - the "Third World" - had started to advance.

But, we were not special. American greatness owed itself to three things: geography with its protection against invasion - and it didn't hurt to have two weak neighbors; the American people, comprised mainly of descendants of Europeans; and a system of limited government, rule of law, and capitalism. All of these advantages are now either gone or have been greatly diminished. The majority American people are on the decline, due to mass immigration of non-European peoples and the proliferation of their descendants. This has also had its effects on the geographic advantage, for while this still prevents armies and navies from reaching us, it hasn't prevented scores of millions of people from coming to live here. The government has become much larger, takes an increasing share of the economy, has made many people dependent upon it, and has become very much anti-business and pro-redistribution.

Now we owe more money than we can ever possibly repay. Living standards are on the decline, because our manufacturing base has been hollowed out, and we can no longer borrow more money to keep up. There's no consensus that we must stop the madness of big government and vast debt, because complacency, easy living, and immigration have created a population that depends on the government and wants to see it expand, not diminish.

The only thing left is to inflate, or hyperinflate, our way out of debt, which will likely destroy the economy. But even should we see our way out of that, the fundamental problems will remain, and our advantages will still be gone.

The only thing left is decline.

We had it so much our way for long enough that we caught the disease of hubris. Chuffed with our genuine accomplishment of fighting a victorious war in two halves of the globe, both allies and enemies brought low, we imagined we led a charmed life.

While the cracks in our supposed impregnability were already visible, the collapse of the Soviet Union gave us another shot of pride, although we probably took too much credit for it.

More than a few years and a few warning signs are necessary for old habits of thought to die. Forgetting that a successful republic takes self-discipline, the ability to make choices, to see the big picture, we grew mentally and morally lazy.

We could have and afford it all ... we thought. Subsidies for farmers not to grow things. Government jobs to placate angry minorities. Third World immigrants to mow our lawns and pluck our chickens, with plenteous welfare benefits to keep them content. Invasions and wars to bring the benefits of "democracy" to tribal cultures with a medieval mindset.

We let our economy devolve into a battle of oligarchies who could forage the world looking for the cheapest means of operation.

We woke up one morning and didn't recognize our surroundings.

  2. The USA is going through a bad patch and for the first time in one hundred years, it has a rival - China. So let us remind a few points going for it: (1) Stability. 200 years of continuity. Momentum. (2) Strong and compact nucleus of 150 million "Old" Americans. (3) Faith. Religion. (4) Strong scientific establishment. (5) Military might. Eleven battle groups. Combat experience.

Yes, there are sympthoms of creeping socialism. But it is too early to give up.

  3. I think complacency and hubris certainly has something to do with it.

But I think that perhaps a more important cause of our situation was the spread of the ideas underlying leftism and atheism.

The egalitarianism of leftism is appealing to many people and in the last century the leftists have largely succeeded in convincing average Americans of their premises. The average American, even the conservatives, accepts progressive ideals of the equality of all people, regardless of gender, race, etc. The average American thinks the government should make life fair, and that people are entitled to financial security in their old age, and so on. I don't think this is because we are complacent or fat and lazy. I think it's the victory of the basic ideals of socialism. It's the idea that spread, and now we are seeing the results of adopting that idea.

You could say we took capitalism and liberty for granted and decided we could afford to add some socialism. Maybe so, but I think the basic problem is that the noxious but superficially appealing ideas of socialism (under other names) have spread throughout society.

Further, those who believe the determinists and materialists and Darwinists who say that life is just an accident of certain chemicals mixing, and that man is just a particularly advanced mixture of chemicals, who deny that something like an immortal soul exists or that there is any immanent meaning to life, destroy modern man's desire to build something lasting and beautiful. If there is no meaning to life, if we are just blobs of chemicals, and there is no "right" and "wrong", then why sacrifice for the future or care about much of anything beyond what feels good right now? Modern man has accepted the supremacy of science and since science provides no guidance on values at all, serving only as a means to test the truth of hypotheses, modern man - and particularly modern societies like America - are cast adrift. We have no moral compass, no centering belief in a higher purpose to pull us forward in a disciplined way towards something. Instead of a nation, we become a geographically contiguous bunch of individual consumers trying to experience a little hedonistic fun to distract us from the pointlessness of our lives.

So I think the atheism and near-triumph of socialist ideas is really the cause of the decline that we're seeing.

  4. I resist. There will be something new to mine. A new chapter.
But there is a chapter now that must be ended. If there is a majority left a chance remains to... geez I don't know, like to think we have not soiled ourselves.

Nice post, Dennis. Did you know how the U.S. went from being a net debtor nation to become the world’s greatest creditor nation during WWI? At the beginning of the war, the European belligerents wanted to sell their American securities and exchange them for gold to buy armaments and so forth. Treasury Secretary William McAdoo outrageously closed the stock exchange for four months to prevent that from happening. What were the Europeans to do? Stop fighting each other and sail across the Atlantic to get their money back by force?
Anyway, in short order the Europeans ran out of money and had to start borrowing from the U.S. This is how the global shift in financial power occurred.

  6. How anyone can actually believe that *unlimited* diversity (of culture, of language, of ethnicity, of law and legal principles as they have derived from culture, of attitudes toward family structure and individual responsibility, etc. etc. etc, can form a cohesive, unified, great society that is a virtual Heaven on Earth is beyond me, unless, of course, we are talking about the fantasies possessed by a pre-adolescent girl.

We are so used to platitudes, so used to deifying our abilities as Americans that we have tossed out our understanding of human nature and that folly is now reflected in public policy and in the aphorisms spewed forth by the media culture.

I think that we have to assign blame to both sides of Americana--to libs and conservatives, for both have come to believe in fairy tales: to the libs, who say that all humans have pure motives, and that if given a push, will take advantage of it and thrive, and to the conservatives who convince themselves that American exceptionalism can successfully mix oil and water.

Thing is, there are more libs who believe the fairy tale than their are conservatives. Thus, I pull for the conservatives to restore sanity of thought.

  8. Mr. Mangan bear with me because my comment is not entirely off-topic. If we are to steer this nation back to greatness we need to grow our ranks. The current post on OneSTDV concerns the Paleo diet. Many in the Paleo diet movement are ready for the facts of HBD.

After my "Paleo Diet Success Testimony" in the comments-section I wrote:

"... OneSTDV and Mangan: Please encourage your readers to visit the Paleo blogs and comment. The folks there, because of evolutionary dietary differences in disparate populations are ripe for the fact of HBD.

Almost all of the Paleo folks are libertarian-ish. They understand that the government has lied to us concerning grain and saturated fat. They understand that vegetarianism is based on hippy-feel-good-politics. They understand natural/sexual selection.

WE NEED TO NUDGE GENTLY. Paleo diet people as a group dwarf the HBD-realists in number. We need to become intertwined in this movement and grow ourselves!"

So whenever the topic of evolution comes up on the Paleo diet sites we have an opportunity to talk about the fact that reproductive isolation, over many generations, will result in genetic divergence, etc. etc.

    Sorry for going off topic.

  9. So which is it. Are Americans strictly scientific materialists or are they unabashedly superstitious 'fairy tale' believers? Which one is the cause of the rot?

Too much begging the question for me in most right-wing theories on these things. Plenty of examples of success without Christianity; plenty of examples of failure with it. I'm sure there will be ample 'No True Scotsman' rebuttals to that statement, albeit well muffled by copious amounts of sand about the speakers head.

Likewise with capitalism. It's great, to the extent that your people are loyal to their ingroup, or have one in the first place. A failure everywhere else. Gifting an unrelated, disloyal, atomized group of individuals with economic power is foolish.

Socialism is ineffecient, and not as compatible to man's competitive nature; but I certainly would exchange our current crop of traitor capitalists for loyal socialists, if such a creature existed in the American political landscape. The idea that elderly Americans should be taken care of in the infirmity of their advanced age isn't any root caue of the decline and fall of America. The assertion is ridiculous.

What's wrong is that the program has been wilfully mismanaged by our traitor socialists, just the same as our private institutions have been mismanaged and sold out by our traitor capitalists. What's wrong is the idea that capitalism, or socialism is some kind of panaceaa or catastrophe depending on your stance, that is broadly applicable to the entire human species.

That America will make rising stars, bright and shiny, any and all; even the very dimmest from the darkest of continents. By virtue of Americanness alone as well; rather that ephemeral quality means socialistic engineering of society of anarcho-capitalist utopia, Christian morality, or some combination thereof.

I'm enough of an American exceptionalist to believe that 'Real Americans' could make nearly anything work to their advantage, including Social Security, UHC, et cetera, so long as they were willing to work for 'Real Americans', to the exclusion, or even in many cases to the determinent of everyone else. Currently we enjoy a culture and particularly a leadership that does the exact opposite and works for our detriment so that everyone else may benefit, even if it that benefit is largely the entertainment of watching us slowly cook like proverbial frogs.

  10. Also size. The U.S. is just really big (in terms of population) relative to all the other realistically competing powers in the second half of the 20th century (with the exception of the USSR). It is more than double the size of Japan, more than triple the size of Germany, almost ten times the size of Canada, and so on.

Combine that with other large countries (especially China, but also the USSR before it dissolved) being economically backwards during that time, and its fairly straightforward to see who was going to be the most powerful country.

  11. Kyle,

I agree that increased government spending per se, doesn't seem to be a primary factor in western decline. According to that logic, then America, Italy, Britain, and New Zealand would be strongest western countries and the Scandinavian countries would be the poorest. The only countries where increased government spending has been a really destruction factor are France and Greece.

As a New Zealander, I can say that my country has actually shifted to the right economically over the last 30 years but any benefit from this has been cancelled out by an increasing proportion of the country's tax take being granted to non-wealth creating groups like the elderly or minorities.

THis tendency to put the interests of particular groups ahead of the interests of the majority is something that has infected all western countries. Next to increased Asian competition, its the biggest factor in western decline.

  12. MnMark points out another dimension of the situation that doesn't seem to get much attention among the primarily scientific/materialistic regulars on this site.

While Dennis and several commenters have insightfully noted the "external" aspect of our present troubles, I agree with MnMark: at a deeper level, Americans in positions of power and influence have lost faith in any meaning beyond the here and now.

I do not equate lack of a spiritual life with lack of ethics, or claim that people with spiritual aspirations are morally better. But where the void exists, it must be filled with something (or, as Chesterton supposedly said, with anything).

We fill it, collectively, with distractions -- primarily these days with future-oriented scientific speculation, computer games, and entertainment. The time that the more intelligent among the population used to spend on conversation, reading, and philosophy (including political philosophy) is now soaked up by technologically advanced toys.

More even than a political counter-revolution, we need a revolution of values.

  13. "So I think the atheism and near-triumph of socialist ideas is really the cause of the decline that we're seeing."

Yes and no. Atheism and socialism for the masses are losing propositions. Religion is necessary for the masses to behave and at least earn the status of being "good." When the only thing that people strive for is status in this world, and a worldview of equality, then we have irreconcilable ideologies. As for evolution, or at least selection, the social system has to work with the natural forces. Things like the death penalty for violent offenses and slavery for property crimes work to reduce the number of criminally inclined people. Religion generally serves to support such legal structures.

Atheism among the elites really doesn't kill society. When they think it will work for the dumb, they are wrong.

  18. Dennis you've provided an excellent summation, future generations of historians will write volumes filling in the details. Decline and collapse seem inevitable, the only question is will the collapse be slow and steady or very rapid. I lean towards a rapid collapse based on current events. We are going through the same cycle of rise and fall that all empires go through. There will be no "End of History" for the U.S. Besides the obvious (food, guns, gold/silver) banding together with like minded people seems like a necessary step. Atomized individuals don't stand a chance in the event of total collapse. I still think religous communities are the way to go, although commentators on here bemoan the churches capitualation to multiculturism. Adherence to multiculturism and other grand ideas is only possible with excess wealth. In lean times these grand ideas will be tossed aside rather quickly I suspect, and churches will focus on their immediate members. Most churches are already seperated on the basis of race and ethnicity.

And what is true of America is also true of Europe. They're going to be taken down by a bunch of fat imams and their sullen horde of followers? 21. Now we owe more money than we can ever possibly repay.

I think this is definitely true, for all practical purposes.

Here is an interesting and entertaining rant about this:

It Is Now Mathematically Impossible To Pay Off The U.S. National Debt

Not sure how accurate it all is, but like I said it's entertaining and, practically speaking, correct (IMO).

And this does not get nearly enough attention:

You see, for more dollars to enter the system, the U.S. government has to go into more debt.

For example, in all the talk about QE-2, I never hear one simple question asked: Why does this money, which everyone does agree is going to be created out of nothing, have to be used to buy Treasury debt? Which is a future obligation of taxpayers, of course; the money must be paid back, with interest. Why can't the federal government -- which per the Constitution has the authority to coin money -- just print the money itself instead?

The real question is how long the American people will tolerate this kind of enslavement.

"Give me control over a nations currency, and I care not who makes its laws."

  22. Here's one radical approach to prevent the decline of America. Deport everyone with an IQ lower than a certain threshold, regardless of race. Replace those individuals with high IQ people from other nations, once again regardless of race. The only question is whether or not such a high IQ society can thrive. Or will we encounter a Brave New World type of scenario where societies composed only of Alphas end up failing?

Charles Murray has written about the impending shift in cognitive demographics due to lower IQ individuals out-reproducing higher IQ individuals. Personally, I've always supported William Shockley's plan. We pay people with low IQs to let themselves be voluntarily sterilized. By the way, Shockley's concern spanned across racial boundaries. Like Murray, he was also concerned about the potential of an impending white underclass.
See here for an old Murray article.

    http://www.vdare.com/sailer/050410_underclass.htm

"This brings us to the emergence of a white underclass. In raw numbers, European-American whites are the ethnic group with the most people in poverty, most illegitimate children, most women on welfare, most unemployed men, and most arrests for serious crimes. And yet whites have not had an "underclass" as such, because the whites who might qualify have been scattered among the working class. Instead, whites have had "white trash" concentrated in a few streets on the outskirts of town, sometimes a Skid Row of unattached white men in the large cities. But these scatterings have seldom been large enough to make up a neighborhood. An underclass needs a critical mass, and white America has not had one.

But now the overall white illegitimacy rate is 22%. The figure in low-income, working-class communities may be twice that. How much illegitimacy can a community tolerate? Nobody knows, but the historical fact is that the trendlines on black crime, dropout from the labor force, and illegitimacy all shifted sharply upward as the overall black illegitimacy rate passed 25%.

    ...

The white underclass will begin to show its face in isolated ways. Look for certain schools in white neighborhoods to get a reputation as being unteachable, with large numbers of disruptive students and indifferent parents. Talk to the police; listen for stories about white neighborhoods where the incidence of domestic disputes and casual violence has been shooting up. Look for white neighborhoods with high concentrations of drug activity and large numbers of men who have dropped out of the labor force. Some readers will recall reading the occasional news story about such places already."

When you take a cognitive elitist viewpoint of society, some of the trends are indeed quite worrying.

Well, aside from the moral question of who the hell do you think you are, coming to our country and bossing us around and advocating for pushing our people out? --

The other question might be, will said high-IQers, who can do no wrong, see, because they're so smart, cause their own extinction through unrestrained unleashing of technology? At which time the previously-deported dim bulbs move in to occupy the now-empty land f/k/a America, rendering rather moot your whole project.

Mr. Johnson, I think that the liberal slide started when the Eastern European Jews began immigrating en masse in the late 1800s. I think women getting the right to vote was an early CONSEQUENCE of the slide into liberalism. (After all, the income tax that enabled all this hooey was passed BEFORE women got the right to vote.)

  29. Yan Shen is a troll and therefore not worth engaging directly, but his fixation on IQ is unfortunately symptomatic of the HBD blogosphere in general. The desire to rank human beings by IQ is a sign of ignobility. Refined beauty in both of your sexes, bravery and magnanimity of soul in your men, chastity and strong mothering instincts in your women -- these attributes must always rank first if the goal is a strong, stable, just society. A bunch of ugly calculating machines, glib, garrulous, full of energy but base of soul, using their fast processors to take revenge at the better-turned-out among them... what nation can withstand that?

A nation's stability and quality of life are basically orthogonal characteristics. Only the higher types of men, whose high IQ is by no means their most valuable attribute, understand that considerations about quality of life can only matter when further investment into your nation's stability yield minimal return. A ruling class composed of men with different priorities will destroy a nation unfailingly.

"manufacturing base has been hollowed out"

Conservatives are pro-business in that they promote free trade, low regulation, and low taxation. But clearly, business has been raping America. Business wants two things: 1) to import labor from poor countries and 2) to move the means of production to poor countries. Whether it's H-1B visas or "temporary" agricultural workers, the goal of American business is to make the entire world their labor market. The typical conservative supports the hollowing out of our manufacturing base. They are backed up by economic pundits who claim this brings "new opportunities" to the said raped nation.

In order to save white America we have to take the "liberal" position that business must be restrained and regulated.

I'm not sure you're on the right track trying to relate "lifestyle" to wealth and prosperity. After all, in the USSR in the 1950s, the men worked while the women stayed home, which was much the same "lifestyle" as in the USA but with vastly different outcomes in terms of national wealth generation. What the man does when he goes to work is more important for national wealth generation than the mere fact that he is able to go to work and support a family. In the USSR, state bureaucrats, secret policemen, and members of the military could all support wives and children, but ultimately all these government "workers" were a drain on the economy who retarded national wealth rather than creating it. Looked at another way, socialism was (and is) a way of transferring wealth from the people in the private sector who actually create it to the politically favored parasites, including government workers, who merely consume it.

I think you do have that raw potential, but you continue to operate on flawed premises. Garbage in, garbage out.

  36. America's greatness came from the fact that we sprung up from the Anglo world at the right time and place. England was at the forefront of political and economic issues at the time of our founding and we benefited greatly from it, like Canada and Australia. Contrast us to the other New World nations born of Spanish and Portuguese influence.

So long as the new immigrants were other Europeans who readily assimilated into Anglo culture, all was fine. But now even England itself is being overrun with an un-assimilable aliens.

  38. I agree with Robert Gray. The outsourcing, insourcing and de-industrialization that began under Nixon and metastasized under Reagan is the main culprit. Maury sums it up well:

It was liberals who overhauled the immigration laws, but Reagan and Bush I who really opened the floodgates.

  39. Dennis does not allow us to forget our current decline but the array of "cures" for our disease is full of counterproductive nonsense. It is not easy to "correct" cultural misdirections but HBDers seem ready with remedies.

Mr. Yan Shen again intrudes with his usual putdowns of whites. Clearly his hostility is that of an alien whose displacement causes him undue frustration and he lashes out at the dominant race/class that is whites. He has obvious racial pride in Chinese achievement and high IQ and thinks often in elitist terms related to those fantasies. Alas, he is wooden and simplistic, unable to think in more realistic yet culturally complex terms.

White poverty and illegitimacy as Charles Murray portrayed them are not overwhelming problems because whites still control most of America's wealth and beat NAMS on every measure of social health and status. It is certainly true that drug abuse, illegitimacy, and crime have all increased after 1960, but NAMS have undergone phenomenal degradation on all measures of social health and stability.

The poor results of US students on international science and math tests, for example, would readily change for the better if only whites took the tests. Eliminate all black and Hispanic crime data and America looks like one of the best places on earth for quality of life. Even among US states, quality of life is directly related to the fraction of blacks and Hispanics present. New Hampshire, for example, is Heaven compared to California.

The problem of decline is indeed immensely complicated but replacing Obama and socialist policies, affirmative action, systematic government corruption to provide massive entitlements, as well as liberal schemes to flood the nation with Mexico's problems and redistribute wealth would help considerably.

Religion once provided the moral glue for a diverse but essentially white society fully accepting of its meritocracy. Such a social order has nearly disappeared under liberal assault and the progress of science. Blaming atheism and socialism confuses the issue because both categories are quite complex and do not depend on one another. However, egalitarian myths do indeed create stupendous problems when dreamers like Bill Gates and Barrack Obama wish to reify Heaven by transforming the nation's NAMS into absolute geniuses via social engineering of our teaching profession- the last institution mandated for meritocracy in a society already shredded of nearly all vestiges of merit.Only teachers will be purified and anointed as highly paid savants when their NAMS charges show miraculous school achievement. This brave new world crusading must be stopped in its tracks.

Excuse me, but that's nonsense. I should know as I come from former Soviet Union. In Russia women were emancipated to work in factories right after the October revolution.

Housewives were ridiculed in the media. There were certainly women staying home, mostly the wives of the top men in the communist government structures. For the common women, it wasn't a popular choice at all and for many, not even economically viable one.

Stalin hasd halved men's wages in the 1930s to force most women into the workforce, and after war most people were simply dirt poor.
My grandmother got her first child in 1949, and left her in day care when she was but 30 days old. Later when my grandfather started making decent money she stayed home with her youngest for some time, but went back to work not to be "just a housewife". Housewives were very much looked down upon and every girl got indoctrinated into feminism from early in life.

My Grandma still can't stand housewives, and thinks that every woman must have a career.

In Western Europe it was diffirent, though.

Speaking about him (not to him) I will however say that, rather than favoring deporation of my low IQ countrymen as he suggests, I favor immediate deporation of him and his ilk. He doesn't seem to realize that - if a given people are not entitled to this country by virtue of thier common civilization and common history here - why should a synthetic people composed of the top two quintiles of an SAT exam be entitled to it?

Then again, it's not really surprising that Yan Shen should not recognize that. In his many postings here - for all his claims of erudition - he has displayed nothing but the rusty action of a banal mind.

Today, there is at last concrete evidence that the remaining sane whites-barely now a majority of voters in Europe and the USA-have woken up to these vile acts of treachery and deceit.

The politicians who have been assaulting us for years (Merkel, Brown, etc) now daily mouth mendacious platitudes about "the failures of immigration" in a devious attempt to stay in power and continue their pernicious defiling of western civ.

Plan A: we have to take back the government. Plan B is a lot more worrisome.

Sorry, but the idea that all Soviet women worked outside the home in the 1950s is nonsense. Bolshevik claims to have liberated women from domestic drudgery were never close to being true - and the ones that were "liberated" usually got to do all the domestic drudgery after they came home from their other job.

  47. According to Charles Murray, people with IQs of 120 or higher more or less create everything of value for society. Assuming the standard white average of 100 and a SD of 15 and assuming that IQ is normally distributed, that would mean that only the top 10% of people contribute anything of value to society in any meaningful sense. The more you think about it, the more obvious it becomes that a tiny percentage of people create a disproportionate amount of wealth in any given society. Ayn Rand was absolutely right in this regard.

Look, I've always considered myself first and foremost to be an individualist. That's why some people here are wrong, when they accuse me of being pro-Asian and anti-white. I'm not pro or anti anything really, other than the fact that I believe that IQ is the single most important trait of any particular individual. And I'm not alone in this regard. One of the fallacies of white nationalism is the belief, as I've stated before, in a cosmic unity amongst the more than 1 billion whites worldwide. In reality, people tend to self-segregate on the basis of many other salient factors, whether its nationality or differing interests. For instance, I've encountered high IQ whites in the blogosphere who are also cognitive elitists at heart and who aren't particularly enamored with lower IQ whites. So this belief that there truly exists some white cosmic unity amongst all whites in the world or even in America is clearly just a fantasy.

People who are concerned about the impending decline of America are focused on the wrong set of issues. The single most important trait is IQ, and it's what should become the primary focus for anyone who's concerned with these sorts of things.

  48. Martin B,
I disagree, Y.S. is terribly useful here. Only with a terrific amount of help from folks like him and the MSM in radicalizing the White Euro populace can my hopes for reawakening white racialism be realized. The MSM believes (or would have us believe) that the Tea Partiers et al are me---i.e. unapologetic white racialists who aren't afraid to ask who...whom. While this is hardly true, I do find that their accusation raises my morale, and eventually, the accusation may create the 'crime' (of being willing to mount a serious defense of the interests of you and yours, if you're white and especially if you're also a male). It is very hard to convince nice white folks who are terrified by the charge of racism to defend their own interests...I basically NEED shrill folks like Y.S. and the MSM to do most of my heavy lifting for me.

With the caveat that I am one such ...

"People who are concerned about the impending decline of America"

The issue people have with your solution is that it does not prevent this decline; it changes America into something else. One can argue about whether it is better or worse, and for whom, but it would not be the same America. If you are trying to sell this solution to people who consider themselves part of the broad middle - in other words, not among the top 10% you keep talking about - it won't be well received.

I happen to think that fight (American preservation or decline) is already lost - and in significant part as a direct consequence of the actions and choices of "average people" - so I can't get too worked up about it.

Also, said top 10% does tend to be overwhelmingly liberal and multiculti right now. They may be smart, but they are not sensible. Smart alone is not sufficient.

I actually think a re-institution of the class system would help. The "upper class" used to mean people who behaved sensibly, saved money, were worthy leaders and pillars of the community, had stable families, and so on. The lower classes aspired to emulate them. Then, once they actually mostly succeeded in that, it got torn down on the assumption that everyone is basically the same. Now we see that it was a veneer, as illegitimacy rates in the white population are climbing again, paralleling the same track the black and latino populations already followed. (whiskeys-place.blogspot.com is the best reference on this) It's only among the highest earners (and thus the smartest) that this effect isn't seen. The lower classes are re-emerging and not emulating the better social model. So one way or another, the old America can't exist anymore.

Charles Murray is an idiot. Food is "of value" for society. It is not created by high IQ people. Social bonds are "of value" for society. They are not created by high IQ people. On the contrary.

Assuming the standard white average of 100 and a SD of 15 and assuming that IQ is normally distributed, that would mean that only the top 10% of people contribute anything of value to society in any meaningful sense.

People who are concerned about the impending decline of America are focused on the wrong set of issues. The single most important trait is IQ

And yet, America's decline began exactly when it started exalting the worth of IQ above all the other virtues. Go figure.

  59. The below statement made by a supposedly conservative poster at Pajamas Media shows what is wrong with America:

America’s pre-eminent stance in this world is only half due to her economic power. In fact, America’s economic power is a direct function of her philosophic power. That philosophic power boils down to this: natural rights, property rights, and a representative republic. That is the tonic behind American Exceptionalism — even though any nation could have joined in at any time.

    Link

The belief that traditional American values are universal thus anyone can adopt them and become an American. This is the mindset that got the country knee-deep in Iraq: The world just needs its inner American to break-out.

What made America was the specific people who settled the land then built a country based on what was good for themselves and their (not somebody else's) posterity.

One of the regular posters at that site - the infamous Whiskey who posts at Sailer's place - was asked not to post there anymore because he started to make the argument that race does actually matter. The conservatives regulars were so disturbed by his claim that Mexicans and blacks cannot do what Anglo-Americans have done and that racial conflict will be permanent they were unable to continue normal discussions as too many posters became hysterical with some contacting Wretchard to ask that he Whiskey and those who agreed with him be banned from future discussions. There have been many thoughtful posts at that site over the years yet when told the ideals they'd spent so much of their lives thinking about were not universal and they'd have to start thinking as members of a tribe the same thoughtful posters went into meltdown mode. Black Americans who've been on US soil since colonial days show no signs of adopting the ideals and values brought from Britain by the early settlers yet somehow this crazy white American optimism prevails to the point where they seem to believe millions of Mexicans, Chinamen, and Arabs will somehow be different. I can't see American decline can be arrested as long the whites continue to believe in the universality of their own ideals and values.

  62. Yan Shet once again dragged the dead cat of "cognitive elitism" into the living room. And I predict that, once again, he will fail to answer criticism of "cognitive elitism."

E.g., the Master Race of "cognitive elitism," the Ashkenazi, do not practice cognitive elitism. So the very group that Yan Shet would hold up as exemplars of "cognitive elitism" do not practice it; they practice what we preach - ethnic solidarity. Israel refuses to import Chinese geniuses.

E.g., Yan Shet's unwilling Master Race of "cognitive elitism," the Ashkenazi, despite being a much larger share of the Israeli population than the American, have not elevated the former above the latter, much less to the godlike heights "cognitive elitism" predicts.

E.g., China's runner-up "cognitive elite" Master Race don't practice "cognitive elitism" either. Nor do those brilliant Desis.

Shouldn't these "cognitively elite" Master Races be blazing the trail for us? Instead, they seem to be avoiding what's best for them.
