The other day I was complaining to a friend about my sense of alienation from just about everyone around me. I've long since lost religion - that vast moth-eaten musical brocade created to pretend we never die - so that consolation is out, but more important for our purposes, the nation I live in doesn't seem any longer my own. As for the poet, working all day and getting half-drunk at night doesn't really work. My friend, who lives in New York, replied with the following, reprinted with permission.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Late this afternoon I went for a 3-mile walk around Prospect Park. It was a horrible, hot, humid day, with not a breath of wind, and the park was like a teeming Third World country. The first thing I saw as I entered was a huge gathering of "Arab-Americans" (I know that's what they were, because they had a big sign up) who had staked out an area for a barbecue. Fat men smoking hookahs, and fat women in headscarves, with boom-boxes blaring Mideastern disco music. Beyond that was the usual throng of blacks and Hispanics barbecuing away, with hip-hop and salsa music competing to drown each other out. The trash cans were overflowing, and garbage was strewn everywhere. The air was thick with greasy smoke. It was nauseating.
After a mile or so I came to the Peristyle, an elegant classical structure placed at the southeastern edge of the park by the park's designer, the great Frederick Law Olmstead. Here's a picture:
As I walked by today it was inundated by a crowd of Haitian and other Caribbean immigrants, also barbecuing (inside the building, mind you, blackening it with soot), blaring music, and strewing trash. It put me in mind of the Sack of Rome. This gracious, rambling park is one of the greatest masterpieces of 19th-century landscape architecture, and its designers had in mind that it would be enjoyed by civilized people. This is like using a Kandinsky watercolor as a place-mat at Bob's Big Boy.
Throughout, I heard almost nobody speaking English. I felt like an alien in my own country.
Can't wait for winter, when we Ice People get the park back. I love New York, but it is getting harder and harder for me to feel that I want to live here any more, or that I even belong. It's horrible. I hate it, and I resent it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Addendum: After I posted this, my friend, whom in comments I characterized as until recently a mildly conservative type but who's become more reactionary, wrote:
"Reading that at your site, even I can't help thinking that your friend must be a real racist asshole...
The area around the park is certainly no whiter than it used to be. Brownstone Brooklyn used to be old-school Catholic (Irish, Italian), and Jewish; now it's just white yuppies.
Whoever wrote that first comment should have been in the park yesterday. It's not just the vibrant Diversity; it's the coarseness, the blaring noise, the bling, the sagging pants, the tattoos, the vulgarity, the trash and decay, the ugliness, the sense of civilization falling apart.
I wish I hadn't written that "I hate it, and I resent it". That word "hate" really jumps off the page. And of course I don't bear any ill will toward the people in the park themselves. They are just human beings, going where the opportunities are. If I were one of them I'd have wanted to get out of my sweltering shithole of a country and come here too, and they can't help being what they are. I just wish the USA hadn't gone out of its way to create this disaster."
I replied to him that writing "I hate it" isn't at all bad, that he (and I) have every right to hate it, and that things will not begin to change significantly until we and a lot of others begin to "hate it" a whole lot.
New York, and especially Brooklyn where Prospect Park is located, has gotten increasingly whiter over the past decade. There's been a lot of gentrification. I'm not sure what period he's comparing it to. Even if you compare it to the period before there were Arabs, Caribbeans, etc. there, you could reasonably argue that it's whiter now or getting whiter since many of the young whites that have moved into New York recently are of traditional American stock or more middle American, as opposed to the previous "white" groups of ethnics that were quite alien to traditional and middle Americans.
ReplyDeleteI lived in Park Slope for a short while. After two near muggings at the hands of, what else? blacks, I got out. In answer to Anonymous's assertion that parts of Brooklyn are becoming more white -- so what? When an area is substantially so-called minority whites are living in hostile territory.
ReplyDeleteThe only good thing that might come out of the impending economic meltdown is that a white breakaway state could emerge from the chaos. And by state I mean a very large portion of the interior of the country.
So much for the melting pot.
ReplyDeleteAs one who has, at first hand, lived through the loss and utter transformation of several ex-British colonial countries, I can feel the pain.
America is indeed deteriorating, and much faster than anyone would have thought possible. Ditto the UK itself, which is now unrecognizable in many area.
If the truth be told, the fault is ours. We have committed at least three cardinal errors: not had enough children; engaged in several suicidal wars that killed large numbers of those we did have; and believed the flatulent neo-Marxist sewage spouted by the liars and
mountebanks who have wormed their collective way into our governments.
Actually, we deserve it, like suckers always do.
Curiously, the Israelis seem immune to this brand of propaganda. Time to take a leaf.
Anon.
Dennis,
ReplyDeleteI've long since lost religion
That's too bad because God does exist.
As I walked by today it was inundated by a crowd of Haitian and other Caribbean immigrants, also barbecuing (inside the building, mind you, blackening it with soot), blaring music, and strewing trash. It put me in mind of the Sack of Rome.
...

Very poignant, they are the words of one in whom the American myth is almost dead. Honestly though, who could have guessed that our national quest for liberty and equality would require us to offer up our finest cities and gardens as haunts for the descendants of African slaves? You know the end is nigh when our national quest descends into such farce.
If you don't mind, I am curious about the politics of your friend. Specifically, has he always been a reactionary or is he a recent convert?
As far as his level of hard-core reaction, I'd say it's increased a lot lately. Up to now, he's been sort of a Gates of Vienna, mildly conservative type, but I'd say he's gotten up to speed on the fact that he's losing his country, and fast.
ReplyDeleteThis will be sort of off-topic, but I have similar feelings about my city. It's not due to just the communists moving a bunch of peasants in it who couldn't appreciate it or the recent Chinese and African immigrants who are in tiny numbers and not problematic at all. The problem is that the houses like the one in the picture are beginning to disappear(what's left after communism's crusade on destroying the heritage of my city). It must be even more depressing for my grandparents who spent their teen years in this city:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FwJAAIyvWkg
While now this is happening to what's left of that:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wF2ZjopxOUU
It's depressing that the building in which the state in which I live was founded is in shambles. Looking at the communist crappy style matchbox buildings is like looking at the body of a mutilated rape victim. So I understand what your friend is going through. It's really depressing.
Dennis,
ReplyDeleteThank you for the answer to my question about your friend.
My deepest condolences to you both as I too understand the pain of alienation, living as a [White] minority in the multiracial urban South. The psychological burden of knowing the truth is heavy!
Dennis, your friend's closing sentiments ("It's horrible. I hate it, and I resent it") echo my feelings every day that I have somewhere to go or something to do that requires my leaving my house. The public library, where I go to get some escapist reading, is full of Asian and Black kids loudly playing games on the computer terminals. An Indian woman wanders among the adult fictions tacks, carrying her whining toddler. The self-checkout station is monopolized by Chinese checking out dozens of books (the library recently had to impose a limit of 50 books out at a time due to the Chinese practice of filling up numerous canvas bags with books) at a snail's pace. If I want a sandwich, I can choose between the Subway owned/operated by illegal Hispanics, or the one operated by illegal Arabs. The one pharmacist left in town who is a white American has just hired a Vietnamese assistant - where will I go when he retires? The shoe repair I used to frequent, operated by an older white couple, was sold to Chinese a few years ago and is now out of business (they jacked up prices too high and their manner was less than friendly). In Walmart, on a good day perhaps one in ten customers is white - and then not the type of whites I want to hang around. My previously all-white dentist's office just started sporting a couple of black assistants/hygienists, and given affirmative action, I know they can't possibly be as well-qualified or trained as the whites I'm accustomed to. My doctors are still white, but with the coming of Obamacare, I wonder if they'll remain in business. I'm drowning in diversity daily, and frankly I would rather stay home and read a book, where I can pretend I still live in America and have a nation that feels like home. I've lived overseas for a number of years and enjoy other cultures in their native lands, but my own culture and native land has been obliterated. I am truly the stranger now, and I deeply empathize with your friend.
ReplyDeleteAnd top it all off with heavily restrictive gun control laws. NAM's are on safari, and you are the quarry.
ReplyDeleteMove to Utah.
About a month ago, Dallas hired a new police chief, David Brown, a black man. Last week, his 27 year old son David Brown, Jr killed a man, and then killed a cop who responded to the scene. Yesterday was David Brown, Jr’s funeral, and the cop killer’s funeral was given a police escort “out of respect for the chief.”
ReplyDeleteDon’t you just love multi-cultural America, where police chief’s sons are cop killers, and cop killers get police escorts for their funeral? - h/t James Edwards
For many people, the first step towards securing a religious concept of existence is the realization that you cannot really go on existing without one.
ReplyDeleteBeing a sentient creature while simultaneously holding to an ideology that presupposes that sentientce, if it exists at all, must exist in total isolation.
I mean, how is it possible in a materialistic universe for one person to really be in touch with another?
The person of God could be, but that is off my track here.
But you go on because you do not experience life as complete and utter isolation, I bet.
There is a contradiction here that runs very deep - a cleavage as it were between conscious belief and less-than-conscious assumptions. You live your life as if there was enduring meaning and transcendant values but try to tell us (and yourself) that there no such things.
Seeing clearly the problem with that is a good first step.
What are the odds that, in 2010, an architect or landscape architect would propose a neo-classical structure in a public park? What are the even more remote odds of it actually being approved? Finally, I have to wonder if the red, barrel-shaped trash cans at each corner were part of Olmstead's original design.
ReplyDeleteYes, it seems that something has been lost.
There's this local (L.A.) blog I sometimes read. It's by a fairly lefty guy, who's gay and a descendant of Ellis Island-era Jewish immigrants. A few years ago, he'd typically write about how the city and people here lacked a sense of community and place and belonging and responsibility to each other. These days, though, he often writes, pretty angrily, about the immigration situation here and the toll it's taking. Makes me wonder if since people like this guy are now getting pissed, maybe there's some hope ahead for a little sanity wrt immigration.
ReplyDeleteIt's the same story in many Western cities, Paris and London being the first examples. A friend of mine who studied French and is in love with the French culture was shocked when she first visited Paris and she saw the Muslim, African and Asian presence in what used to be the cultural capital of Europe.
ReplyDeleteThe fate of the nowadays Western cities is worse than that of Warsaw, Dresden or Talinn after being bombed to the ground in WW2. Because these cities could be restored as long as they were inhabited by a population aware and fond of its past - but how can you preserve a city whose racial and ethnic composition resemble Marakesh?
Of course, leftists would call this wreckage and destruction, these cities transformed into third world alien lands "vibrant multicultural mosaics".
New York, and especially Brooklyn where Prospect Park is located, has gotten increasingly whiter over the past decade.
ReplyDeleteBrooklyn is a minority white borough in a minority white city. It's about 40% white European, 20% Hispanic, 36% black, and the rest "others". You can say that it is getting "increasingly whiter" only by looking at a very small time slice - much smaller than the last decade.
In 2009, for the first time in NYC's history, more non-whites voted than whites. It's a city in long-term decline.
The other day I was complaining to a friend about my sense of alienation from just about everyone around me. I've long since lost religion - that vast moth-eaten musical brocade created to pretend we never die - so that consolation is out, but more important for our purposes, the nation I live in doesn't seem any longer my own.
ReplyDeleteIs there some American heyday when you think you wouldn't feel alienated? I would bet that whatever date you provide, it was a far more religious place then than today.
The aliens among us are only half of your alienation. The other half is your alienation from the God of your people, your forefathers, your civilization.
The other half is your alienation from the God of your people, your forefathers, your civilization.
ReplyDeleteI don't really see that many people around me are religious except in some vague sense. What really makes me feel alienated is the stupidity I see everywhere. One isn't supposed to say that as it sounds arrogant, but I feel it massively.
I wouldn't have felt alienated at Harvard or Stanford in 1935, or even 1955. Or probably lots of other times and places.
We don't need any more "vibrant" primitives in our parks, our schools, our stores, and our institutions.
ReplyDeleteEven when our "new" Americans are well behaved, they can make ordinary daily events into a trial for the rest of us.
My pharmacy is a regular United Nations. Never know if today I'm going to pick up my prescription from an African who doesn't understand the sound of the English-language letters when I spell my name out for him; the headscarf-wearing Muslim; one of the Asians; etc., etc.
I wait while a customer ahead of me in line, who speaks with some kind of Middle Eastern accent, tries to communicate with a Vietnamese pharmacist whose English is heavily accented. Neither can understand the other very well, so every question and answer must be repeated two or three times. Sometimes it is comical. Sometimes I am not in a mood to be patient with it.
How has this diversity done anything positive for the quality of life? What will it take for the white middle class to say, "Enough!"
There are two Americas right now. One is the product of liberal media and schools constantly praising the virtues of multiculturalism and the other is the very harsh reality that garbage in garbage out is far more than an information theory paradigm. The garbage coming over the open border is Obama's personal message to American whites and it is a ruthless threat to our existence. The liberal elite who support Obama reflexively usually remain physically removed from the illegal immigrants and other cultural refuse who are degrading every aspect of life. They blindly believe in equality in a way that defies science and makes them increasingly irrational but they still retain power and persist in the demolition of a once-great nation. Our worst nightmare is this multicultural monster that has no basis as a builder of culture because of the truth of the garbage in garbage out model.
ReplyDeleteThe truth is that a successful society that selects immigrants carefully-like Germany- might survive because Turks learn German and generally obey societal rules. My wife is in Berlin right now and enjoys eating at Turkish restaurants while noting that Germans "look down their noses" at Turks but have few problems with them (so far). While far from perfect, the Germans seem able to cope with a measured amount of Turkish influx. This is a delicate balance that could be diverted into a UK-type garbage dump but so far they demonstrate a middle-of-the-road wisdom that America has not. We have abundant enemies within who would like to demolish Arizona and any others who dare to prefer a much less "cosmopolitan" America to the current cesspool.
The key to "living with" diversity is to be a pure relativist for whom all habits, beliefs, and behaviors are equal. Religion is not as relevant as this single point: if you are a spineless relativist you will not accept my garbage in garbage out paradigm. You see only people enjoying life. Who are we to make distinctions? However, life is full of conflicts and problems of many kinds and some of us believe in value hierarchies. We can defend civilization's highest achievements against primitive, instinctual behavior based upon ignorance and superstition. We stand for higher principles of truth and must try to defend the best traditions of Western civilization from the doctrine of multiculturalism that recently arose from liberalism. To believe that low IQ Third World types can be magically transformed into smart, civil Americans is simply idiotic. In a liberal America withour real standards slovenly migrants will remain slovenly migrants because they are very different from earlier European immgrants who had brains and drive. Additionally, this new crop is arrogant because they are celebrated by diversocrats as perfectly acceptable people.Habits such as honor killings, auto crash scams, and pain clinic scams, not to mention personal ID scams. have little effect on the mind of a pure relativist. This is a person without a capacity to judge except if their mother was murdered, but perhaps even then it might be impossible to find fault if the killer was a minority. Still, those of you who get a good taste of immigrant barbarity and unmitigated vugarity may begin to overthrow stupid relativism for a more censorious stance that could entail joining the forces defending America. It might not be too late if Arizona wins.Obama, in any case, must lose!
I think the evidence is that second generation Immigrants speak English with no accent, so as long as the flow of new immigrants is cut off, eventually the problems with people speaking English in a hard to understand way will end
ReplyDeleteI don't really see that many people around me are religious except in some vague sense. What really makes me feel alienated is the stupidity I see everywhere. One isn't supposed to say that as it sounds arrogant, but I feel it massively.
ReplyDeleteOne: you are not going to get anywhere thinking our average- (or sub-average-) IQ folks are "stupid" or "mindless" or "sheeple." I know you have a high IQ. They are the followers, plain and simple, and they are following our current ruling elite, which is unspeakably wicked. Looking down on the followers they way you do is despicable, and if you were to be part of a new ruling elite, I doubt it'd be much better than the one we have now.
Two: I think you pleasantly delude yourself when you think you wouldn't be alienated in 1935 or 1955 or whenever. You would simply clump with other alienated intellectual elites. In 1935, they were Trotskyites like James Burnham and Communists like Whittaker Chambers. You could do worse than to turn out like they did (Sidney Hook never got any better...), but in 1935 they were alienated, and I'll wager you would have been, too.
Everyday I'm more and more thankful I don't live on one of the coasts. I live in Indianapolis and its mostly white with a pretty nice and clean downtown. Sure, there are some coloreds but they know their place.
ReplyDeleteStop suffering in those infested coastal areas and try moving to Indianapolis, Minneapolis or Boise.
Jaz: I don't know why you feel the need to attack me. You told Auster to ignore me, and now you're here making personal criticisms of me.
ReplyDeleteI don't go around and call people stupid to their faces, so what can your possible objection be to my feeling that the world is full of stupidity and that I can't relate to it? By telling me what I should feel, you're the arrogant one.
Don't bother moving to Minneapolis. A couple years ago it elected the first muslim to Congress - a black man named Keith Ellison. It's also has one of the highest concentrations of Somalis in the U.S. And neighboring city St. Paul has one of the highest concentrations of Hmong. Illegal hispanics are everywhere. My friend lives across the street from one in St. Paul who flies the Mexican flag from his flagpole in front of the house. The Humphrey/Wellstone liberals in Minneapolis/St. Paul have succeeded in bringing "diversity" a'plenty and I would highly recommend you steer clear of it.
ReplyDeleteI second what Sheila wrote: I'm drowning in diversity daily, and frankly I would rather stay home and read a book, where I can pretend I still live in America and have a nation that feels like home. I have the same experience. I can be in a good mood, concentrating on some subject of interest, and then go out for a walk or a drive and it seems like it's nothing but hooded Somali women leading a brood of children (boys in bright shirts, girls in hoods and black dresses), groups of short oily Mexicans babbling Spanish, or blacks pursuing trashy white girls. Completely ruins my mood. Same thing happens when I watch tv.
I'll be flying the flag on the 4th, but only to irritate the Mexicans who live around here. I don't really identify with the U.S.A. anymore.
Dennis, you are based in California, and you may be generalizing what you see in California to NYC.
ReplyDeleteIn California, the story is of not so nice neighborhoods being converted from "mostly white" to "mostly NAM"
In NYC, the story is often the opposite.
a little white back, everyone in Manhattan knew of the meatpacking district as a place where transvestite hookers worked it. There were so many transvestite hookers that even the regular streetwalkers avoided the area as they considered it just too dangerous and downscale. Few whites were willing to live in the neighborhood and therefore real estate entrepreneurs were able to buy large three bedroom family sized apartments in the neighborhood for $200 thousand each and rent them to NAMs. Again, there were almost no white families living in the neighborhood.
Fast forward to today. The transvestite hookers are gone, and with the hard work of real estate entrepreneurs, the neighborhood is considered trendy and the same exact family sized apartment that cost $200 thousand a while ago are now selling (quite rapidly) for $3 million each.
White families dream about living in the neighborhood since it is less than a two block walk to the Chelsea Market, the high line, and other wonderful amenities.
Dennis next time you are in Manhattan I strongly suggest you visit - it is truly a dynamic and wonderful place, much nicer than anything you have in San Francisco.
Whenever you tell the "old timers" about young white families eager to move to meatpacking district and not being able to afford the meatpacking district ---$3 million is a little beyond the budget of many young families :) --- anyway whenever you tell people about this they just can't believe it. Their eyes bug out when you tell them that good hard working young doctors and lawyers and CPAs just can't afford the meatpacking district anymore.
But there it is. The same pattern has repeated itself in other places in NYC. White families are taking over neighborhoods that were evacuated by white families generations ago.
To a greater or lesser extent you see this pattern in other places in the USA - the highest IQ and/or wealthiest white families are moving in to hip urban neighborhoods, reclaiming those neighborhoods from NAMs while the slighly lower IQ, less hip white families move to the exurbs, the whiteopias.
"Reading that at your site, even I can't help thinking that your friend must be a real racist asshole..."
ReplyDeleteRight, it's much better to just give the country away than to risk being called names: Oh no, not that!
Pathetic.
"...I just wish the USA hadn't gone out of its way to create this disaster."
Yeah, well, it's people like you -- either all too ready with the 'racist' label, or too cowardly to risk being the target -- who have enabled the non-discussion of it, and therefore allowed it to go on for as long and to progress as far as it has.
Anonymous at 10:54, your attempt to belittle people's concern with America's population replacement by minimizing it into a seemingly petty irritation is obvious and your assertion that speaking English with an accent tends to disappear by the second generation is incorrect. The accents are merely and quite evidently only one symptom of the problem. When I wait in an interminable post office line while an Indian clerk tries to understand a Chinese customer, or a Chinese clerk speaks extensively (in Chinese) with a fellow native, I am the alien in the situation. Gates of Vienna had a post last week about rioting in France between Chinese immigrants and the Arabs who preyed on them. The local Chinese paper noted that of course, all Chinese hearts beat in concert with their homeland. That is the issue here. Where/what is one's homeland? Where does one's heart's allegiance lie? I was forced to confront those questions when I first lived overseas, and I took the time to think them through in more than a superficial fashion. Initially, I was only in socialist England, and my transformation from knee-jerk liberal was only just beginning, but the differences were both glaringly obvious and hidden in seeming minutiae. I was young and naive, but even I could see that those children of mixed American/British parentage were British in their behavior and, more importantly, their outlook. Teasing out those differences and pondering whether they were important to me, and why, helped me understand why my country mattered to me and nourished my nascent patriotism.
ReplyDeleteOf course, those children of a "mixed" American/British marriage seemed wholly British because their American parents had assimilated both themselves and their children, and there was no obvious visual or racial difference. By comparison, consider the child of Pakistani immigrants in America. His parents socialize almost exclusively with other Pakistani immigrants. His mother wears her traditional garb, and at home they speak their native tongue. He attends a mosque attended exclusively by other foreign-born muslims. He considers normal his tangled family tree (lots of first cousin marriages) and the tendency of his relatives to visit for 3-6 months at a time. The majority of his schoolmates are also the children of foreign-born parents, and to him they are the norm. Does the fact that he speaks English with an American accent and enjoys a PS3 make him an American? Is his concept of faith, family, government, country, an American one? Will his children (probably born of wife/cousin fetched from Pakistan) be any more American? To say citizenship is merely a matter of birth or accent or language is to trivialize a highly-nuanced matter.
As others have noted far more eloquently than I, you could move numerous Africans to China and have them all learn the language, but they will never be Chinese. Am I so alien to feel that pre-1965 America, only because it had a solid white majority and a solid consensus on social norms and national values, was able to admit a minimal number of foreign-nationals (who truly did have to renounce all foreign allegiances) and assimilate them and their children over time? Am I a racist and a xenophobe for enjoying travel and the different, the alien in its natural place, but wanting my homeland, my familiar place and people, to return to? You make it sound so trivial, a matter of "accents." I learned to speak a number of foreign languages (some a lot, some a little) with a pretty good accent during my years overseas, but I was never anything but an American, and I'm tired of being a stranger in my own homeland.
Dennis,
ReplyDeleteWhat really makes me feel alienated is the stupidity I see everywhere. One isn't supposed to say that as it sounds arrogant, but I feel it massively.
I know this feeling too!
What makes matters worse is that the majority of intelligent people don't use their intellect for discovering truth and coming to their own independent assessment of things but allow it to be shaped by the forces around them. Few things dishearten me more than to see an otherwise brilliant individual mindlessly spout the propaganda of our era as if it was gospel truth.
The number of intelligent people who have taken control of their own mental life is vanishingly small. I wonder if that has always been the case.
...or too cowardly to risk being the target...
ReplyDeleteOoh, that's telling him, "eh".
And just who are you, exactly?
But there it is. The same pattern has repeated itself in other places in NYC. White families are taking over neighborhoods that were evacuated by white families generations ago.
ReplyDeleteThis is a very important point but for a different reason than this author believes. All throughout the US this very pattern has been observed over the last 40 or so years. Urban, mostly white areas get flooded with "diversity", resulting in "white flight" with whites vacating good properties at low prices. Then their descendants come back and buy the same properties for vastly inflated prices once the areas "gentrify." This process is aided and abetted by government coercion and collusion and private enterprise. Driving whites out and herding them back in is a big money scheme for the thugs who run our circus/carnival/freak show of a country.
But there it is. The same pattern has repeated itself in other places in NYC. White families are taking over neighborhoods that were evacuated by white families generations ago.
ReplyDeleteExcept that that's not actually true. White families are not taking over neighborhoods that were evacuated by white families generations ago. Gentrification is taking place in parts of Brooklyn, but the people doing it are Asian for the most part. Brooklyn is only a small fraction as white as it was in 1960, and its not coming back. Ever.
The Peristyle is lovely. That garish red-metal trash can in front of it is all one needs to see to note that the park is probably in serious decline however.
ReplyDeleteThe public playgrounds of America, built by whites, often private amalgams of whites like Lions Clubs, Rotary Clubs, Masonic Lodges, and just do-gooders in general, oft become de-facto minoritiy hang-outs that whites eventually fear going to.
Perhaps private parks in which you paid $5-a-head, and had to show your ID to gain admittance to, would be a better idea for the future.
Notuswind wrote:

I think many people fear social sanction and end up ostensibly agreeing with things in public that they are afraid to admit to anyone privately who is not their spouse. A friend of mine, a former police officer, is afraid of speaking some politically incorrect shibboleths in front of his own college-aged daughter. She lectures him on all sorts of issues. He wants to see his grandchildren, so for now, he tries not to agitate her, even though she is full of P.C. nonsense at the moment.
I just wish the USA hadn't gone out of its way to create this disaster.
ReplyDeleteIt wasn't the USA but a small ethnic group that believes that it is in its own self-interest to undermine white gentiles as much as possible.
Sheila,
ReplyDeleteWell spoken. Please keep up your comments, at Dennis's blog or mine. Or do you have your own?
Florida is one of the high Hispanic target areas where the Mexican government and its American surrogates work to saturate the area with poor and illiterate Mexicans. The urban areas show a demographic pattern that is quite broad and surprisingly extended into "rich neighborhoods." The audacity of this aggressive outgrowth from the poorer urban neighborhoods is amazing. In Florida one can see absolutely poverty-stricken Mexicans and other Hispanics in classy stores like Niemann Marcus and Nordstroms. Bare midriffs, tatoos, dirty undershirts, etc. are commonly seen among the wealthy whites who prefer to ignore what they cannot avoid.Of course, you see many more of them in Walmart and MacDonalds, their absolute favorites. Still, they exist in upper-income areas because they "double up" in nearby apartments. I noticed a drastic change in all our nice apartments about five years ago as the parked autos began to look ragged. Today the "nice" apartment complexes are beehives of illegal immigrants and blacks all driving 10-15 year old Chevvys or Dodges with dark windows and modified exhausts. Reading the Friday Crime Report of our assiduously PC newspaper, I regularly note the epidemic of crime emanating from our newly arrived minority citizens(and non-citizens).They have generously brought their bad habits to middle-class Florida but not a word of protest can be heard. I can imagine many white parents facing increasing degradation of their schools compared to upper-middle class whites of the past. Private schools that are extremely expensive may be the last resort.
ReplyDeleteMake no mistake, the seedy areas between the suburbs and the inner city are being filled by Latino gangs that cause great problems. We have hundreds of "pain clinics" popping up that have long lines of addicts outside in broad daylight!!! These are Hispanic clinics with massage therapists as the only "doctor." Life is becoming more like a circus here in sunny Florida, where class and race exist in a physical milieu that looks like an ideal mosaic except for the reality that it is HELL.
Madison Grant, The Passing of the Great Race, pp. 91-92
ReplyDelete"The result of unlimited immigration is showing plainly in the rapid decline in the birth rate of native Americans because the poorer classes of Colonial stock, where they still exist, will not bring children into the world to compete in the labor market with the Slovak, the Italian, the Syrian and the Jew. The native American is too proud to mix socially with them and is gradually withdrawing from the scene, abandoning to these aliens the land which he conquered and developed. The man of the old stock is being crowded out of many country districts by these foreigners just as he is to-day being literally driven off the streets of New York City by the swarms of Polish Jews. These immigrants adopt the language of the native American, they wear his clothes, they steal his name and they are beginning to take his women, but they seldom adopt his religion or understand his ideals and while he is being elbowed out of his own home the American looks calmly abroad and urges on others the suicidal ethics which are exterminating his own race.
"When the test of actual battle comes, it will, of course, be the native American who will do the fighting and suffer the losses. With him will stand the immigrants of Nordic blood, but there will be numbers of these foreigners in the large cities who will prove to be physically unfit for military duty.
"As to what the future mixture will be it is evident that in large sections of the country the native American will entirely disappear. He will not intermarry with inferior races and he cannot compete in the sweat shop and in the street trench with the newcomers. Large cities from the days of Rome, Alexandria, and Byzantium have always been gathering points of diverse races, but New York is becoming a cloaca gentium which will produce many amazing racial hybrids and some ethnic horrors that will be beyond the powers of future anthropologists to unravel."
Madison Grant, The Passing of the Great Race, p. 219
"The new population understood little and cared less for the institutions of the ancient Republic but they were jealous of their own rights of "Bread and the Circus" - "panem et circenses" - and there began to appear in place of the old Roman religion the mystic rites of Eastern countries so welcome to the plebeian and uneducated soul. The Emperors to please the vulgar erected from time to time new shrines to strange gods utterly unknown to the Romans of the early Republic. In America, also, strange temples, which would have been abhorrent to our Colonial ancestors, are multiplying and our streets and parks are turned over to monuments to foreign "patriots," designed not to please the artistic sense of the passer-by but to gratify the national preference of some alien element in the electorate."
And just who are you, exactly?
ReplyDeleteWhy does it matter who I am?
But in the spirit of my comment, I'll answer. Here is 'who I am' (or rather, who I am not): I am not someone who calls other people 'racist' (or any other name) because they notice and/or decide they don't like, for whatever reason, the dramatic demographic change engulfing America; and I am not someone who is afraid to be called those names myself.
Hope that helps.
And BTW, I don't give a fuck who you are.

ReplyDeleteYou might find this part in tone with the blog post:
22. Continue discrediting American culture by degrading all forms of artistic expression. An American Communist cell was told to "eliminate all good sculpture from parks and buildings, substitute shapeless, awkward and meaningless forms."
And what happened to my former art nouveau city... So yes, I feel for the commentator who said that he prefers to stay indoor and read a book.
Rum, I'm an atheist and I have intimacy with other people, I enjoy a pretty sunset, fine architecture, a good book and smelling the grass as I lay on it and look at how the sun beams pass through the leaves of a city. Give me a break.
Chris, cutting immigration and whatnot is so 1975-1980. Now you must reverse it.
Armance, that's why I disliked Londonistan. It's actually worse than Paris since the white people inhabiting it are utter trash too. City full of chavs and crappy immigrants. Paris can be ok if you stick to the good areas and is mostly European there. Sure, if you like to wonder about on the streets of a city like I do, you will be disgusted. Or well, if you notice that half of the people on the airport aren't European.
Jaz, I don't mind religious people. The civilization we have is hardly religious anyway - it's Roman and Greek with different flavours in the arts department. And this is how it always was, actually. I'd feel good in America from about 1830 until 1930. Here, I gave you a whole century.
Cornelius, you have a too good opinion of Turks in Germany.
MnMark, I'm the same. I go to a park and lay on the grass or watch the ducks and get in a great mood and then walk through the overcrowded, ugly city that mine became, filled with philistines that I become angry.
Armance, did you know that Vanghelie buried his stupid relatives in the mausoleum of Lahovari? Basically, a stupid Gypsy mayor buried his stupid relatives in the mausoleum of one of the best families of this country. Lahovari was one of the first foreign ministers of my country and he also was minister of agriculture, industry, commerce, public works. Two of his brothers also were ministers at some point in time, one of them being also a general in the army. From that family also comes the founder of the Romanian Geographic Society, a man that wrote the first geographic dictionary of my country and who ran the post office. I find it utterly revolting and it makes my stomach turn upside down. And not just because his people didn't contribute squat to this country, it's because nobody should bury their relatives in their mausoleum. I mean, if I became princess in this country I wouldn't have the nerve to do it.
ReplyDeleteAlso, check that out. :(

An Indian woman wanders among the adult fictions tacks, carrying her whining toddler. The self-checkout station is monopolized by Chinese checking out dozens of books (the library recently had to impose a limit of 50 books out at a time due to the Chinese practice of filling up numerous canvas bags with books) at a snail's pace.Sorry, Sheila, I have no empathy for your trivial complaints. Those terrible Chinese borrowing too many books! Bagfuls of books!
ReplyDeleteI also disagree regarding the great Frederick Law Olmstead's park. It is being enjoyed by the people who actually lives there, which is exactly the purpose of all architectural design. The City should build places for making fire to allow the people to barbecue. Maybe more trash bins are needed. A park is a living thing, it should not be a dead ouvre d'art for over-refined aesthets. I am sure Olmstead would have agreed with me.
If you are such a brave and sturdy knight, 'eh', and so quick to throw a big chest and call call others "pathetic" and "cowardly", then why, pray, do you post anonymously?
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome to do as you like, of course, but I do fear it rather undercuts the image you're trying to project.

ReplyDeleteJ, I think you mean well, but you simply have no conception of what's going on in places like Prospect Park. The people described in the post not only behave badly, but they don't belong here. Furthermore, the white American middle class for whom Olmstead designed his parks and buildings doesn't consist of "over-refined aesthetes", but normal people who behave with respect towards others and towards public places, unlike the invaders.
Brooklyn is only a small fraction as white as it was in 1960, and its not coming back. Ever.
ReplyDeleteThe whites moving in now are whiter than the predominant white ethnic elements in 1960.

ReplyDeleteWhat does that even mean? That some left-wing financial analyst is "whiter" than Archie Bunker?
(Yes, I know Bunker was set in Queens.)

ReplyDelete(Yes, I know Bunker was set in Queens.)
Brooklyn was guido and Jewish.
Bunker was a Protestant but there were very few of them left in Queens by that time.
This reminds me of H.P. Lovecraft's short story "The Horror at Red Hook" from 1927.
ReplyDeleteLovecraft was from New England of Old American stock and felt a similar kind of alienation as a result of all the foreigners he encountered in Brooklyn and New York. "The Horror at Red Hook" was inspired by this feeling.

I suspect it means that the (usually) college-and-advanced-degree-holding, flyover-country transplants are closer to recognizably American "types", ethnically and indeed culturally, than Joey Boombatz with his gelled hair and gold chains and Izzy Kahn with his Wobblies membership card and a pocketful of in-group resentment.
For those of you who harbor some curiosity about what the mean streets of Manhattan looked like shortly after WW II, I recommend a movie called "The Naked City." Unlike most all Hollywood films of the era, Naked City was actually filmed on the streets of New York City's lower east side with cameras hidden in the backs of trucks to preserve authenticity. You will not see any graffiti or garbage. It is hard to discern a non-white face. People are friendly and polite. It's too bad that we can't turn back the clock to a better time.
ReplyDelete... but normal people who behave with respect towards others and towards public places, unlike the invaders.
ReplyDeleteThis underscores a lot of what makes Northern European cultures so much different from others. It's not just about looking different, it's about the fact that so many public institutions built along Scando-Anglo-American lines assume self-policing. The public is allowed into various places (from parks to libraries) on the assumption that they will respect them. The solution in other cultures is often: Ban the public.
Sort of reminds me of the Patriot Act, specifically as it is pushed as an alternative to reducing immigration....
Dennis,
ReplyDeleteOf course I mean well. You are right that Olmstead designed the park for a certain kind of public and that he never imagined the kind of people that uses it today. There is a tremendous dissonance there today. But the issue is not the behavior of the current set of inhabitants (what did your friend expect from Arabs? That they play Beethoven instead of Umm-Phahem?) The issue is demographic change, which is dramatically devastating not only New York and California (and Detroit), but all European capitals. It is a much serious problem than the waiting list in the library or littering a park.

ReplyDeleteHaving never heard of Boombatz or Kahn, I can't really speak about how white or non-white they may be.
I can speak for your precious advanced-degree holding lefties though - they are an evolutionary dead-end and our main goal should be to ensure that they don't completely destroy America along with themselves.
